Young Learners Versus Adult Learners

People of different ages have different needs, competences, and cognitive skills. Each student is an individual with different experiences. Young learners and adult learners have many different learning styles.

Young learners see their teacher as a role model. They have not a background knowledge. Young children need more attention and generally display enthusiasm for learning and curiosity about the world around them. They think the world turns around them and like to talk about themselves. Young learners generally learn indirectly and also, their understanding comes from what they see, hear, and touch. They need individual attention and approval from the teacher. Children have a limited attention spoon they can easily get bored and lose their interest after ten minutes.

On the other hand, adult learners have background knowledge and don't need more attention. They have a whole range of life experiences and want their creativity alive. Adults are more disciplined than young learners. They generally learn directly also can engage with abstract thought. Adult learners have expectations about the learning process. In comparison, adults can understand easily. Adult learners can improve themselves more. Furthermore, they often have a clear understanding of why they are learning new things.

In conclusion, young learners and adult learners are different from each other. They have many different skills. They learn with different styles. And also they have different characteristics. So, these are the differences between young learners and adult learners.

Effects Of Modes Of Education

Did you know that there are several modes of education? We all get educated through various modes of education. Education can be imparted through formal, non-formal, and informal modes.

Firstly, in informal education, every person has a tendency to learn. People learn many things consciously or unconsciously through observation, experiences or imitation at home from family members. Informal education improves people’s observation and imitation abilities. Moreover, people gain experience from the closest person to them and this is good for people who feel uncomfortable when they are with strangers. And also, it helps them to learn a new language.

Secondly, formal education is the most known and effective mode. It can be separated to the face-to-face mode and the distance mode. Formal education helps in developing the capabilities of individuals. Also, people can learn information from more experienced persons in schools. Additionally, learning a language with a teacher is easier. Because of this, formal education has more advantages.

Thirdly, non-formal education is a mix of formal education and informal education. Non-formal education takes place both within and outside educational institutions and caters to all ages. People can learn new languages with various applications. For example, game applications. It helps people to learn more enjoyable way.

To conclude, education does not take place in schools only. People can learn new things and languages at home, courses, different institutions or various applications. In short, every education mode has its own advantages.

SECOND LIFE

This is my Second Life avatar. I opened it because I heard this from my teacher and he said they used this game in their lessons. I'm new in this game but I will check over. This type of game can be useful for teachers because many students like playing games. And in this way, teachers can give lessons online. It is also useful for shy students. In the class maybe they don't want to talk but this way they can easily communicate with the teacher. To sum up, Second Life can be beneficial for both students and teachers.

The Audio-Lingual Method

The audio-lingual method is used in teaching foreign languages. It also called the Army method. It is based on the behaviorist theory. This approach to language learning is similar to the direct method. Like the direct method, the audio-lingual method advises that students should be taught a language directly, without using the students' native language to explain new words or grammar in the target language. But there are also differences, unlike the direct method, the audio-lingual method does not focus on teaching vocabulary. Rather, the teacher drills students in the use of grammar. The instructor presents the correct model of a sentence and the students have to repeat it. Then the teacher continues by presenting new words for the students to sample in the same structure. In the audio-lingual method, there is no explicit grammar instruction, everything is connected to memorizing.
